Frenchiepug

Frenchiepug

The Frenchie Pug is a small designer breed of dog that originated in the United States where it was developed to be a sweet and lovable pet and companion. It is known by a handful of different names including the Frenchie Pug, French Bulldog/Pug Hybrid, Frug and the French Pug. Frenchie Pugs were created in the United States by select breeders who crossed purebred French Bulldogs with purebred Pugs. The resulting pups are known as designer dogs and have become quite popular today. While French Pugs are not recognized by the American Kennel Club, they are recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club, Designer Breed Registry, International Designer Canine Registry and the Designer Dogs Kennel Club.

The Frenchie Pug is a cross between a Pug and a French Bulldog. Their appearance can vary from dog to dog, but since both French Bulldogs and Pugs have large eyes, flat faces and short muzzles, most Frenchie Pugs inherit these characteristics. Their coats tend to be short and easy to care for. Fully grown Frenchie Pugs can weigh anywhere between 13 and 30 pounds. They have short hair that can come in several colors including fawn, apricot, silver, black, white, brindle, black and white, and tri-colored. The tail of the French Pug should be medium-length and held in a tight curl over the back. The ears can be large, rounded prick ears or they can be what are known as rose ears. Rose ears are ears that are erect but fall forward midway. This is a compact, sturdy dog with a flat face, short snout, black nose and large dark-colored eyes. Frenchie Pugs should also have various wrinkles on their foreheads and between their eyes.

Personality

Like most Pugs and French Bulldogs, Frenchie Pugs tend to be lively, loving and playful. They are curious and inquisitive and want to know about everything that is going on at any given moment. This dog breed doesn't have high exercise needs and are well suited for apartment life. They tend to be friendly towards children and are probably happiest when they can sit on their owners' laps. French Pugs are sweet-natured, lovable little dogs that love to cuddle with their owners. While they enjoy playing, they are not overly active and do not require a lot of exercise. One of the best things about Frenchie Pugs is that they are very calm dogs and do not bark much. They also get along great with kids and other household pets. If you are looking for the ideal pet for your family but do not want a large breed, why not consider a Frenchie Pug? Frenchie Pugs are calm, gentle little dogs that get along great with kids and other types of pets. However, if you choose this pet for your family, you need to be aware of the health issues that these dogs are prone to developing.
