Large Munsterlander

The large Munsterlander originated in the town of Munster in Germany during the early 1900s. The large Munsterlander was developed from the German longhaired pointer and assorted spaniel breeds, and the resulting dog became a popular hunting breed. Like many dog breeds across war torn Europe, the Large Munsterlander’s numbers sharply declined by the close of World War II, and efforts had to be implemented to revive the breed. The United Kennel Club recognized the large Munsterlander in 2006, and the breed remains a popular pet and hunting sidekick throughout Europe today.
