Any abnormal, irregular heart beats or rhythm of the dog or cat is related to many pet health conditions. An irregular heart rhythm may be a sign of Addison's disease, kidney failure or blood pressure issues. It is important to consult veterinarian to determine the cause of the irregular heart rhythm and to choose the treatment.
How to Recognize
An irregular heartbeat may be too fast, too slow, or a nonconstant rate. If your pet is experiencing an exceptionally slow heartbeat, he/she may appear very lethargic. Irregular breathing can sometimes be a sign of an irregular heartbeat.
Diagnosis
Your veterinarian may use an electrocardiogram to exam your pet's heartbeat and find any irregularities.
Pet Insurance
When adding a dog or cat to your family you want to make sure your pet is happy, healthy and protected. During its lifetime your pet is exposed to many illnesses and diseases and some breeds are affected by a congenital disease which is a condition existing at birth. At these moments when your pet is ill or maybe needs surgery, you want to be protected for the unexpected and high veterinarian costs.
