The Silkinese is a small mixed dog breed born from the cross between a Pekingese and Silky Terrier. Due to their small size (ranging 6-10 inches and 8-11 pounds), they are great apartment dogs. Their coat, which can range from black, brown and tan, should be frequently maintained since it has a tendency to grow long and (though normally fluffy and soft) may get tangled at times.

Behaviour and Personality
The Silkinese will adopt characteristics from the lineages of both parents, and can be expected to express a cheerful, affectionate and intelligent disposition. On the other hand, they can become controlling if allowed and will easily take on a "leader of the pack" mentality. For this reason, it is easy to propose that a Silkinese can make a good watchdog, contrary to what their size may suggest.
