Silkese Build Information

Crossed between a Maltese and a Silky Terrier, the Silkese adopts their small size, dark-rimmed eyes and active personality from both sets of ancestors. These are active dogs that do well indoors and in small apartments if frequently exposed to playtime and periods of energy expenditure. Physically, these dogs range in appearance between many coat colors; a Silkese may be white, ivory, golden, brown or black. They are small, sturdy-looking dogs, around 8-10 inches tall and ranging an average of 7-10 pounds.

Behaviour and Personality

If not trained properly, a Silkese can adopt Napolean complex and become controlling, temperamental, and untrusting of other animals or people. They love and obey their master, however, and will be a great family dog if able to develop socialization and obedience skills at an early age. Owners should frequently groom these pets since their fur may easily become tangled.
