A Schnau-Tzu dog is a hybrid, being a cross between a Miniature Schnauzer and a Shih-Tzu. These are small dogs, weighing only 7-15 lbs as adults, and having a life expectancy between 12 and 15 years. They are characterized physically by their shaggy fur, short legs, and floppy ears, and are colored black, brown, white, salt and pepper, or gray.

Schnau-Tzus are extremely intelligent and trainable, and are very friendly toward people and other dogs, which makes them ideal as household pets, even around younger children.
