Mauxie Build Information
For those who prefer to downsize their hybrid dog options, consider the Mauxie, which is a cross between a Maltese and a dachshund. Since there are two recognized sizes of the dachshund, which are the miniature and the standard, the size of an adult Mauxie depends on which size of dachshund stepped in as one of the parents. A Mauxie with a miniature dachshund as a parent will weigh an average of five to seven pounds, and a Mauxie with a standard dachshund parent will weigh between 12 and 15 pounds. The Mauxie coat is short, but it is not smooth. Moderate grooming is needed to maintain a neat appearance. The coat may be black and tan, black and cream, tan or white.
