Majestic Tree Hounds are large dogs that were developed in the United States to hunt such big game as mountain lions, bears, jaguars and bob cats. Also known as the Majestic Hound, this is a somewhat new breed of dog that was created by crossing large game hounds with various blood-trailing hounds. Majestic Tree Hounds were created in the United States sometime in the early 20th century. They were developed by crossing a variety of breeds including the Bloodhound, Treeing Walker Coonhound, Grand Bleu de Gascogne and the Basset Hound. The goal was to create a superior hunting dog and companion. Throughout its history, Majestic Tree Hounds have been used to hunt such game as mountain lions, bears, bob cats, jaguars and even raccoons. Today, these dogs are still terrific hunting dogs and loyal companions. However, they are rarely seen outside of the United States.

Appearance

The Majestic Tree Hound requires very little grooming other than an occasional bathing when necessary.
