Hygenhund

The Hygenhund is a medium-sized breed of dog that was developed in Norway to hunt various types of small game such as raccoons, foxes and rabbits. Also known as the Hygen Dog, Hygenhunds are best suited for active families who have plenty of time to spend with their pet. Hygenhunds were developed in Norway during the late 19th century by a man named Mr. Hygen. It is thought that he created the breed by crossing English Pointers with various hounds including Basset Hounds, Beagles and Bloodhounds. Hygen’s goal was to create a dog that could hunt in harsh climates and over any type of terrain. The results of Hygen’s breeding program produced hounds that excelled in tracking and retrieving various types of small game in the harshest of conditions. Today, Hygenhunds are still excellent hunting dogs, but they are also fantastic companion and family pets as well. However, they are a rare breed and are seldom seen outside of Norway.

Hygenhunds are medium-sized hound dogs that can weigh anywhere from 44 to 55 pounds as adults. They have short hair that can come in a variety of colors including orange and white, red and white, brown and white, tan and white, and black and tan. This is a somewhat muscular dog with medium-length drop ears, a square muzzle, long tail and light to dark brown eyes.

Personality

While the Hygenhund is an excellent and tireless hunting dog, it is also a devoted and friendly family dog. Hygenhunds are also very intelligent and easy to train. However, they tend to have an abundance of energy, and as such, they can become bored easily if they are not kept busy. Although these dogs have strong hunting instincts, they also make terrific family pets. In fact, they make perfect pets for people who are highly active and can provide them with plenty of exercise.
