East Siberian Laika Build Information
The East Siberian Laika is a purebred hunting dog that originated in Siberia and is particularly known for being aggressive, loyal, and protective. They are medium in size with muscular, square built, strong chests, a Spitz head type, and stand roughly 21 to 25 inches in height. Their thick double coat is long and coarse on the outer layer, soft and dense on the inner layer with white, black, gray, brown, and red color varieties.
Behaviour and Personality
Though the East Siberian Laika is a courageous and ferocious hunter, it is quite loving and gentle with its owners, even children. They do, however, not tolerate other dogs well and should be socialized and trained early to curtail this aggressiveness early on. East Siberian Laikas can be trained relatively easy, but require a firm and constant trainer. Since they are working dogs, they must have lots of exercise and activity daily or they will become destructive.
