Cavachon

The history of the cavachon is not known. The breed is a cross between the Bichon Frise and the King Charles spaniel. The designer, or hybrid, dog is a mixed breed. The dog is generally found in pet stores or from hobby breeders. The cavachon is not known by any other names.

Like its parents, the cavachon is a small breed of dog. The dog typically weighs between 15 and 18 pounds. Although these dogs are small, they are far from delicate. Cavachons can rough house with the big dogs and enjoy a good romp in the back yard. The average cavachon has a small head, floppy ears and strong legs. Care should be taken to maintain the dog at a proper weight. Like other small breeds, cavachons may be prone to luxating patellas which are exacerbated by excess weight.

Personality

The cavachon typically shares characteristics of both of its parents’ breeds. The cavachon is a friendly dog that enjoys the company of people. These dogs are active, loving to play and exercise. The cavachon is also highly adept at entertaining itself, making it the perfect dog for less active owners. Cavachons are social dogs. The cavachon prefers the company of other animals and people over being alone. After a great play session, this breed is more than happy to curl up in the lap of its favorite human.
