The Affen Spaniel is a hybrid of the Affenpinscher and the Cocker Spaniel. Cute and small-sized, Affen Spaniel dogs have risen in popularity over the past decade. The Affenpinscher can be traced to 17th century Germany, when they were actually much bigger than the terrier-like breed they are classified as today. The Cocker Spaniel, which is bigger than the Affenpinscher, is associated with the United States and the United Kingdom. In both places, the Cocker Spaniel was bred to hunt birds. It is not clear when, where or why the Affenpinscher and the Cocker Spaniel were bred with each other.

Appearance
Ideally you should brush the coat of your Affer Spaniel every day. However, you have the option of taking the animal to a professional dog groomer once every four weeks to ensure that the dog’s appearance is top-notch. Also check the dog’s ears and feet pads. If you see excess hair sprouting from under and inside the ears or between the pads of the feet, trim it. It is not advisable to get this dog if you cannot put aside time for a substantial amount of grooming.
