The Bernefie is a mixture of the Newfoundland pup and the Bernese Mountain Dog. It is a hybrid with many of the talents of either parent, and excels as a watchdog, search & rescue and associated functions. The Bernefie is a large dog that can weigh over 80 pounds.

Bernefies posses a quiet temperament after they grow out of their very active puppy years, but they still need to be exercised daily – though not vigorously. It is an intelligent breed that loves and cares for its family, especially the children. It doesn’t bark much, but is a good guard dog – it will bark if an intruder is near, but won’t likely attack.
