Beagle Harrier

The Beagle Harrier, a scent hound originating from France, is a rare dog breed and is probably in danger of eventual extinction. There is some disagreement about this breed’s history. Some fanciers claim that the Beagle-Harrier was developed by crossing Beagles and Harriers and others insist that the dog was developed from the mutual ancestor of the Harrier and the Beagle.

The Beagle Harrier is larger than the Beagle and smaller than the Harrier. This medium-sized, muscular dog has usually a tricolor coat featuring the colors black, tan, fawn, and/or white. Its coat is smooth and thick.
