There is little historical information available for the bulloxer. This dog is a cross between the boxer and the American bulldog. It does not matter which parent is which breed for the litter to be considered bulloxers. The designer dog is recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club, the Designer Dogs Kennel Club, the Dog Registry of America, Inc., the International Designer Canine Registry, and the Designer Breed Registry.

Appearance

The bulloxer requires minimal grooming. The dog has a short, tight coat that needs weekly brushing. A rubber brush or curry comb is all that is needed to maintain the coat. Dogs that have overly-wrinkled faces will need the wrinkles wiped out daily to avoid skin irritations. The floppy ears of the breed can make it prone to ear infections. Care should be taken to not let water sit in the ears, and the ear canals should be cleaned once a month. Toenails should be trimmed about every six weeks so that the quicks do not grow too long.

Bulloxers may be prone to cardiomyopathy, hip and joint problems or respiratory conditions. The breed may also be prone to skin allergies. It is difficult to determine the health issues most common to the breed because it is a mix. Before you bring a bulloxer home, research the health issues of the boxer and the American bulldog; these are the issues your bulloxer will be most susceptible to.
