The Basset Retriever is a medium sized dog resulting from the cross breeding of the Basset Hound and Golden Retriever. Generally they have a long body with short legs and long, flappy ears and a shiny soft coat that comes in golden/black/red color mixtures.

Behaviour and Personality

Basset Retrievers take on the calm and gentle personalities of the parent breeds, enjoying the company of both adults and children. They are highly intelligent and make for easy training under a firm hand. Diets for Basset Retrievers should be carefully monitored so they don't get overly fatty and the dog should be regularly exercised to expend extra energy. They are very playful and energetic, perfect of a romp around the yard.
